Scottie Scheffler has secured the FedEx Cup title for the second time in three seasons. Following his victory at the 2026 Tour Championship, two of his three tournament wins this year were achieved during the FedEx Cup Playoffs, where the prize funds are some of the largest of the entire season. Scheffler walked away with an enormous $10 million first-place payout on Sunday, elevating his career earnings past the total accumulated by Tiger Woods.
The world’s top-ranked player entered the postseason with only a single tournament win on his record this year. However, by winning the St. Jude Championship and the Tour Championship in a span of just three weeks, his $13.6 million in total on-course earnings has propelled him to the top of the PGA Tour’s career money list. Scheffler’s professional earnings have now climbed beyond the $130 million mark.
While Viktor Hovland held the lead heading into Sunday’s final round, he was unable to sustain his strong play off the tee or on the greens, allowing Scheffler to overtake him. Even so, Hovland will collect a payout that is larger than the checks given to winners of signature events, pocketing $5 million as the runner-up after previously earning $3.6 million for his victory at the Travelers Championship earlier this year.
Ryan Gerard also fell just short during a challenging final round, but he walks away with the largest paycheck of his career, earning just over $3.7 million. Aside from Scheffler’s climb to the top, no competitor boosted their earnings on Sunday more than Alex Fitzpatrick. Carding a 4-under 66, he climbed 12 positions on the leaderboard from 16th place (which pays $505,000) into a tie for fourth, securing more than $1.7 million.
