Demarcus Robinson, a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers, entered a plea of no contest to a misdemeanor DUI offense on Wednesday. Law enforcement officials stated that he was allegedly speeding at over 100 mph while under the influence of alcohol.
According to the Orange County Register, which cited the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, Robinson received a sentence of three years’ probation and a fine of $390. He must participate in several programs, including one at a hospital and morgue, as well as a three-month alcohol program. He is also prohibited from operating a vehicle with any detectable amount of alcohol in his system. He will not be incarcerated.
As part of the arrangement, separate counts of operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol level of .08% or higher and operating a vehicle without a valid license were dropped, according to his attorney, Jacqueline Sparagna, as reported by the Register.
The plea arises from an incident on Nov. 25 in the Los Angeles suburb of Woodland Hills, when Robinson was affiliated with the Rams. Officers from the California Highway Patrol reported observing a white Dodge sedan traveling in excess of 100 mph on Highway 101 around 5:13 a.m. on a Monday.
According to a statement released by the CHP, Robinson was driving the vehicle and identified himself upon being pulled over by officers. The statement indicated that Robinson displayed “objective indications and symptoms of alcohol impairment.”

It is not apparent from reports whether Robinson underwent field sobriety tests or a breathalyzer assessment. The incident occurred the morning following a home defeat of the Rams against the Philadelphia Eagles, during which Robinson made a touchdown reception.
Following his apprehension, Robinson was “released to a designated individual,” as communicated by the CHP. As per the Associated Press, Robinson stated following his arrest that it was “a negative portrayal.”
“I don’t intend to introduce that sort of attention, or any unfavorable energy, towards the collective,” Robinson commented. “Situations of that nature are atypical for me, foreign to my character, actions I don’t commonly engage in.”
Formal charges were filed against Robinson in January concerning the DUI.
Robinson completed the season with the Rams, accumulating 505 receiving yards and scoring seven touchdowns, while participating in all 17 regular-season contests. He agreed to a two-year contract for $9.5 million to become a member of the 49ers during the offseason.
