Michael Bisping, an inductee into the UFC Hall of Fame, engaged in numerous battles within the octagon, yet none involved fantastical beings or edged weapons.
That paradigm shifts with Bisping’s most recent foray into acting, as he secured a prominent part in the forthcoming Red Sonja reimagining, slated for theatrical release on August 15 and subsequent digital availability on August 19.
The film features Matilda Lutz in the principal role, embodying the renowned “she-devil with a sword,” a character initially conceived for Marvel Comics in 1973 before its eventual cinematic adaptation starring Brigitte Nielsen in 1985.
The updated Red Sonja film is helmed by director M.J. Bassett, with Bisping securing a noteworthy role, alongside an appearance by his daughter, Ellie Bisping.
The official summary for Red Sonja is as follows:
“After being subjugated by a malevolent despot aiming to eradicate her people, Red Sonja, a barbarian huntress, must rally a band of improbable combatants to confront Dragan The Magnificent and his lethal consort, Dark Annisia.”
Bisping makes several appearances in the preview as Hawk, a warrior character, supporting Red Sonja as she gears up for combat.
