3M Open 2025: Picks, Odds, and Predictions from Proven Model

With the major championships concluded, the final phase of the 2025 PGA Tour is underway, featuring just a pair of tournaments before the FedEx Cup Playoffs. This segment starts with the 2025 3M Open, taking place at TPC Twin Cities in the Minneapolis vicinity. Following their journey from the Open Championship across the Atlantic, a considerable number of leading golfers are opting for a break this week, potentially creating opportunities for others at the 3M Open 2025. Only one golfer in the top 20 is scheduled to participate on Thursday, which might result in unexpected outcomes for those wagering on the PGA Tour.

Maverick McNealy, positioned at No. 18 globally, holds the third spot on the 2025 3M Open odds list at +2000. He is behind Sam Burns, a five-time tour victor, and Chris Gotterup, who share the top position as co-favorites at +1600. Several weeks ago, Gotterup was ranked beyond the top 150 players; however, following his Scottish Open victory and subsequent third-place finish at The Open, he has risen to No. 27. Noted fan favorites like Tony Finau and Rickie Fowler are regarded as longshots for this week, with odds of +3500 and +4000, respectively. Before confirming your 2025 3M Open selections, it is advisable to consult the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from SportsLine’s reputable computer model.

Since the PGA Tour’s resumption in June 2020, SportsLine’s exclusive model, developed by DFS expert Mike McClure, has been highly successful. It has generated over $8,500 in profit on its recommended bets since the restart, consistently predicting tournament outcomes accurately.

2025 3M Open predictions

The model’s projections for the 2025 3M Open include a significant surprise: Wyndham Clark (25-1), the 2023 U.S. Open champion and a leading contender, is expected to struggle and not reach the top 10 on the leaderboard. Given the presence of water hazards on 15 of the 18 holes at TPC Twin Cities, precision is essential for success. This is an area where Clark faces challenges, as he ranks 138th on the PGA Tour in driving accuracy percentage. His approach game also demonstrates inconsistency and a lack of accuracy, placing him 102nd in greens in regulation percentage.

It’s also worth considering Clark’s prior performances at the course, where he has failed to make the cut in two of his last three appearances at the 3M Open. His performance in the other appearance was unremarkable, finishing 38th, and he has exceeded par in four of his last eight rounds at this tournament, despite its reputation for being relatively straightforward, evidenced by the fact that the last three winners have achieved scores of 17-under-par or better. While Clark experienced success in the U.K. in recent weeks, this has not been replicated on this side of the Atlantic, with finishes of 50th or worse in seven of his last eight starts in North America. Consider other golfers to avoid here.

Another surprise: Emiliano Grillo, with odds of 50-1, is anticipated to mount a strong challenge for the title. His likelihood of winning is higher than his odds suggest, making him an appealing choice for those seeking a substantial payout. The Argentinian has come close to winning this tournament, securing a runner-up position in 2022 and a third-place finish in his debut in 2020. He also boasts another top 10 result at the 3M Open and has been in the top 25 in four of his five appearances at TPC Twin Cities. Grillo has maintained a score of par or better in each of his last 14 rounds at the Minnesota course.

Following a sluggish start to the season, where he managed only two top 25 finishes in his first dozen tournaments, he has regained momentum on the tour. Since then, he has achieved five top 25 finishes in his last eight events, including a runner-up spot earlier this month at the John Deere Classic. The course in Illinois that hosts that tournament shares a similar slope rating and course rating with TPC Twin Cities, and both Midwestern venues are comparable in length, differing by only 142 yards. This is an encouraging indicator for Grillo, especially combined with his past success at the 3M Open, which supports the model’s positive evaluation in PGA predictions. Explore additional golfer selections here.
