Lexie Hull and Sophie Cunningham decided to enjoy a respite from their basketball activities by unwinding in the sunlight and increasing their Vitamin D levels. Cunningham shared a video clip on TikTok showcasing Hull seated by the pool in coordinated, minimal bikinis prior to their contest scheduled in L.A. on Tuesday.
Set to the music of Taylor Swift’s “Enchanted,” Cunningham added the caption, ” We are off to our game tonight. Convince us there’s a swimsuit brand that wants to partner with two Indiana Fever mermaids.”
The TikTok presentation has since accumulated more than two million views on the digital platform, though it’s not the primary topic of discussion. Caitlin Clark swiftly inserted herself into the interaction through the comments section, despite her absence from gameplay for several weeks due to a groin issue.
“Swimsuit brands plz comment ‘focus on basketball’,” the Indiana standout expressed.
Following Clark’s remark, Cunningham responded with a now-removed comment stating, “maybe a brand will make a full body wet suit for your pale ass too… We all win!”
A surge of fan comments followed Clark’s, including one that read, “I can hear CC yelling from the poolside ‘less tan, ladies!’”
The TikTok banter is entirely playful, as the three basketball figures are known for engaging in lighthearted ribbing in public settings. Clark, Cunningham, and Hull have developed a close bond over the previous year and have given themselves the moniker “Tres Leches.”
Cunningham’s request for a swimsuit brand collaboration did not go unheard. Sports Illustrated Swimsuit commented, “We love a multifaceted woman,” prompting the basketball athlete to respond, “this is what I’m talking about.”
Another brand, Roxy, also chimed in on the video, saying, “Mermaiding is our specialty.” Although Clark may have taken center stage on Cunningham and Hall’s TikTok creation, it undeniably garnered the consideration Cunningham sought. Could a swimsuit brand agreement be in their near future?
