Perez to Cadillac F1 for 2026.

Word is circulating that Sergio Perez’s participation in Formula 1 will resume in 2026 with the newly established Cadillac team, thanks to a multi-year arrangement, according to reports obtained by Autosport.

Sources indicate that Perez and Cadillac have come to a consensus following a series of discussions that have unfolded over several months. It’s anticipated that a formal announcement will be made later in the week.

The duration of the 35-year-old driver’s contract was a major area of deliberation. It has been reported that Perez has agreed to a contract that spans multiple years, guaranteeing his presence for a minimum of two seasons, with the option to extend for a third.

This agreement offers a degree of stability, particularly considering the challenges that are predicted for F1’s 11th team during its initial season next year.

After taking a year away from the sport following his departure from Red Bull, Perez is expected to join forces with fellow F1 race victor Valtteri Bottas at Cadillac. The team will operate from bases in both the UK and the US and will utilize Ferrari engines.

Cadillac chose this seasoned pair, aware of the significant undertaking facing the Graeme Lowdon-led team as it competes against ten well-established competitors. However, the regulatory changes slated for 2026 may present an opportune moment for a new team to enter the sport.

Reports suggest that both drivers will be given equal consideration within the team. The official presentation of Perez is expected to occur soon, enabling the Mexican driver to promptly integrate into the team’s preparations for 2026 and collaborate with Cadillac engineers at the newly established headquarters in Silverstone.

During his initial 14-year tenure in F1, Perez achieved six victories, including a first-ever grand prix win for Racing Point at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix, which subsequently led to his signing with Red Bull as Max Verstappen’s teammate.

He secured five additional wins for Red Bull before experiencing a decline in performance, resulting in his release at the close of 2024 despite a recent contract extension. However, his successors, Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda, have also encountered challenges.
