The VCT Americas Stage 2 Grand Finale is poised to commence on August 29th, featuring four squads vying for the ultimate prize and the concluding berth at VALORANT Champions Paris.

Sentinels, G2 Esports, NRG, and Cloud9 will compete across a trio of days at the Riot Games Arena situated in Los Angeles. The series of matches will get underway on August 29th and will culminate with the Grand Finals on August 31st.

While certain other squads have already solidified their participation at Champions Paris by way of Championship Points, the concluding Americas position is still up for grabs. The victor of Friday’s lower bracket showdown pitting NRG against Cloud9 will ascertain which organisation books its passage to Paris.

Tournament Schedule and Structure

The double-elimination playoffs are slated to kick off with Sentinels locking horns with G2 in the Upper Finals at 2:00 PM PT on Friday. The team that concedes defeat will descend to the Lower Finals, where they’re slated to face off against the victor of NRG versus Cloud9, with the clash tentatively pencilled in for approximately 5:00 PM PT on the same day.

Saturday’s sequence of events will showcase the VCT Americas OVERRIDE Showmatch at 2:00 PM PT, with the Lower Finals slated to follow at approximately 3:00 PM PT. The Grand Finals showdown is scheduled for Sunday at 2:00 PM PT, with the Champions Paris Draw Show set to ensue without delay.

According to the formal communication, all Lower Finals and Grand Finals face-offs will be structured as best-of-five series.

OVERRIDE Showmatch Rundown

The very first VCT Americas OVERRIDE Showmatch will witness a head-to-head collision between a pair of creator teams on the Corrode map on Saturday. Team Alpha, with Gustavo ‘Sacy’ Rossi serving as its captain, will do battle against Team Omega, under the guidance of Sadeel ‘Sidsity.’

Viewers will wield the power to exert influence over the game’s dynamics by means of live voting within the chat interface, thereby handpicking round stipulations that include ‘No Utility,’ ‘Right Click Only,’ ‘All Comms,’ Map Revealed’ and ‘Observer Mode.’

Team Alpha’s complete roster encompasses Christina ‘TinaKitten’ Kenyon, Eduardo ‘Coreano’ Martins, Tomas ‘Safiro’ Scattolin, and Noah ‘Foolish Gamers’ Brown, with Josh ‘Sideshow’ Wilkinson in the coaching role.

Team Omega’s configuration boasts Rodrigo ‘f0rsaken’ de Carli, Malena ‘Suga’ Souto, Javier ‘Vela’ Velásquez and ‘Grim’, with Guilherme ‘spacca’ Spacca taking on the responsibilities of coach.

Stage 2 Finals Celebration

The Stage 2 Finals Block Party is slated to unfold from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM PT on both August 30th and 31st, taking place in the vicinity of the Riot Games Arena. This event will showcase the tournament’s debut Artist Alley, alongside team stalls manned by a half-dozen VCT Americas organisations, as well as a plethora of fan engagement initiatives.

Saturday’s Artist Alley will shine the spotlight on Fifth Element Pins, Shhcha, Ayime.co, Ahhgela, Hunnybaes, and Boeun. Sunday’s ensemble of participants will feature Naytendo, Chierri Studio, Hunnybaes, Aud Ceramics, Yasmeen Ali, and Fishsideup spotlighting Death Petal.

A host of activities are planned, including live music performances, giveaway opportunities, culinary options via food trucks, designated photo booths, promotional merchandise, recreational yard games, fan sign creation stations, and meet-and-greet sessions. Dedicated team booths will be operated by 100 Thieves, Sentinels, Cloud9, Evil Geniuses, NRG, and Leviatan.

Sentinels are entering the tournament as the leading seed, buoyed by a flawless 5-0 showing in the group stage. Throughout Stage 2, the team’s central roster has exhibited signs of formidable strength. With their Champions qualification already secure, lingering questions revolve around their potential unveiling of novel strategies or whether they’ll hold back until Paris.

G2 Esports concluded the group matches with a 4-1 record and currently hold the lead in Championship Points for the Americas region. Maintaining a level of stability throughout the season, their Upper Finals skirmish with Sentinels is poised to be a pivotal clash that will serve to determine the region’s foremost team.

NRG underwent a mid-season reshuffling of their lineup. The team is commencing Friday’s match on the heels of a 2-0 triumph over Leviatan, with their Champions Paris aspirations hinging on a victory against Cloud9. Notably, the latter squad managed to eliminate 100 Thieves to secure their spot in the finals and are now in pursuit of their first international tournament showing since 2021.
