The sibling of Minnesota Timberwolves athlete Naz Reid, known as Toraya Reid, tragically lost her life after being shot by her partner at a residential complex in New Jersey recently, as confirmed by law enforcement sources. She was 28 years of age.
According to Ocean County Attorney Bradley Billhimer, the authorities were called to the Paragon apartments in Jackson, New Jersey, following reports of gunshots around 11 a.m. last Saturday. Responding officers discovered Reid unresponsive near one of the exits of the complex.
Shaquille Green, aged 29, identified as being in a “dating relationship” with Reid, was apprehended while fleeing on foot down a nearby street. He now faces charges of murder and additional offenses related to weapon possession. As of Monday, Green was still in custody, and it remained unclear if he had secured legal representation.
The Timberwolves player shared several images of his sister on his Instagram profile as a way to remember her. Karl-Anthony Towns, a fellow player on Reid’s team, communicated his feelings of “heartbreak” concerning the incident via X.
Townes expressed that “No expression of words can truly diminish the sorrow experienced by my brother,” and mentioned, “My thoughts are with everyone affected during this difficult time.”
