This accolade is awarded to the player who accumulates the highest number of goals throughout a season.
Viktor Gyokeres Secures Ballon d’Or’s Gerd Muller Trophy
Considered the eighth-best striker globally by FourFourTwo currently, Gyokeres enjoyed two outstanding seasons with Sporting in Portugal.
Across 102 appearances for the Lisbon team, the Swedish player scored 97 goals, which facilitated his transfer to Arsenal.
Gyokeres has also made a positive impression in North London, scoring three goals in his initial five Premier League matches.
The Gerd Muller trophy has been awarded to a Premier League player only once before, with Erling Haaland winning it in 2023.
In the previous year, the award was jointly presented to Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe.
Gyokeres is the first Swedish competitor to be recognised with an award at the Ballon d’Or event.
