The Baltimore Ravens practiced on Wednesday without their starting quarterback, Lamar Jackson, suggesting the possibility that the former league MVP might sit out a subsequent contest.
While the Ravens welcomed back Pro Bowl safety Kyle Hamilton, Jackson remained absent due to a hamstring issue, potentially sidelining him for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. Jackson has now missed four consecutive practices, and head coach John Harbaugh offered no definitive update on the quarterback’s condition.
“As with everyone managing various injuries,” Harbaugh commented, “their status going forward will become clearer as the week progresses.”
Injuries have significantly impacted the 1-4 Ravens, who will enter their bye week following the Rams game before their Oct. 26 return against the Chicago Bears. Should Jackson be ruled out once more, Cooper Rush is poised to take the starting role.
In Cleveland, head coach Kevin Stefanski addressed inquiries on Wednesday following the Browns’ trade of Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals. Notably: Does this signify that Shedeur Sanders now holds the No. 2 quarterback position, backing up Dillon Gabriel?

“We’re still managing all roster-related considerations,” Stefanski stated. “… Last week’s decision to move to Dillon required careful deliberation. These are young athletes in whom you’re deeply invested in their growth, so I’ll permit the week to unfold and make a determination subsequently.”
Although Gabriel is the established QB1 after his inaugural career start last week, the Browns also have Bailey Zappe on their practice squad. Zappe possesses nine career starts, including one with the Browns last season, and the coaching staff might prioritize that experience for the backup role this week, as they prepare Sanders for a future role.
