Uisma Silva (14-2, 10 KOs) appeared to be little more than an obstacle as Jaron ‘Boots’ Ellis (35-0, 31 KOs) decimated him, felling him twice on his path to achieving a rapid first round technical knockout. This victory secured the WBA interim junior middleweight title on Saturday night at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Boots Launches an Offensive
Silva struggled to land any significant blows before being overwhelmed by a robust one-two combination from ‘Boots’ Ellis, resulting in the first knockdown of the opening round.
Upon returning to his feet, Uisma, 32, erred by attempting to brawl his way out of danger. This proved to be a costly mistake, as Ellis unleashed a relentless barrage of punches upon him, trapping him against the ropes. Silva was unable to withstand the assault and collapsed onto the mat.

The referee, Shawn Clark, seemed hesitant to stop the fight immediately. He appeared indecisive, pondering whether to intervene or allow the bout to continue. Ultimately, he permitted the one-sided contest to proceed to its conclusion.
A Predatory Display
‘Boots’ exhibited a predatory instinct in the closing moments, relentlessly attacking Silva with a diverse array of punches, while receiving no retaliation. The referee finally determined that he had witnessed enough and intervened to halt the fight. This intervention was timely, as Ellis appeared poised to deliver a decisive blow to Silva just as the referee stepped in to protect the stricken Angolan-born fighter.
Ortiz, Charlo & Zayas Targeted
Following the conclusion of the match, Ellis promptly challenged several prominent fighters in the 154-pound division, specifically mentioning:
- Bakhram Murtazaliev
- Vergil Ortiz Jr.
- Xander Zayas
- Erickson Lubin
- Jermell Charlo
He expressed a desire to face the established names in the division, which is understandable given that many fans had hoped to see him compete against these fighters rather than Silva.
Hearn Supports the Challenges
Ellis’ promoter, Eddie Hearn, echoed these sentiments, expressing his desire for Ellis to face Vergil Jr. next. However, in light of Ellis’ performance, it is doubtful that Golden Boy Promotions will permit Vergil Ortiz Jr. to face ‘Boots.’ Such a decision would be unwise for them.
