The National Football League confirmed Tuesday that Dre Greenlaw, a linebacker for the Denver Broncos, will indeed serve a one-game suspension. This disciplinary action stems from his behavior deemed unsportsmanlike toward a game official, despite the player’s appeal.
As a result of the upheld suspension, Greenlaw is set to be absent from the Broncos’ upcoming contest against the Dallas Cowboys, a home game scheduled for Sunday.
In their initial announcement of the suspension on Monday, the NFL specified that Greenlaw “pursued referee Brad Allen, directing verbal threats towards him as the official attempted to exit the playing field” following the Broncos’ victory over the New York Giants, which took place in Denver.
A video clip, shared by a reporter affiliated with CBS Colorado, captured the interaction between Greenlaw and Allen.

Beyond missing the game itself, the suspension also entails Greenlaw’s exclusion from the Broncos’ practice sessions throughout the week. Moreover, he will forfeit a portion of his salary, equivalent to one game check, amounting to $192,778.
The game on Sunday marked Greenlaw’s debut with the Denver team, following his signing of a three-year contract valued at $31.5 million in March. He was sidelined during both the preseason and the initial six games of the regular season due to injuries affecting his thigh.
During the game against the Giants, Greenlaw participated in 21 plays, recording six tackles and one quarterback hit. The Broncos mounted a comeback from a 19-0 deficit in the fourth quarter to secure a 33-32 victory, improving their season record to 5-2.
