Elena Rybakina has secured her participation in the upcoming WTA Finals in November, overcoming Victoria Mboko to advance to the semi-finals of the Pan Pacific Open.
The victor of the 2022 Wimbledon tournament, boasting two WTA 500 titles this season, defeated the young Mboko with a score of 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), thereby guaranteeing her presence at the year-ending competition.
The WTA Finals, showcasing the year’s eight highest-ranked singles competitors and doubles teams, is scheduled to commence on November 1 in Saudi Arabia.
Rybakina from Kazakhstan required a semi-final berth in Tokyo to surpass the 18-year-old Russian player, Mirra Andreeva, in the standings for the coveted eighth and final position.
Her triumph against Mboko ensures her inclusion alongside Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, Amanda Anisimova, Madison Keys, Jessica Pegula, and Jasmine Paolini in Riyadh.
