MIAMI — A foot ailment that kept Cleveland guard Darius Garland out of action during the Cavaliers’ contest in Miami on Monday will keep him from participating in the second meeting between the squads on Wednesday.
Garland departed in the third period of Cleveland’s 140-138 overtime defeat due to the foot concern. It is his surgically repaired left big toe, the Cavaliers stated, and it’s the same toe that bothered him throughout the concluding month of the 2024-25 regular schedule as well as last season’s postseason.
The Cavaliers have not indicated how much additional time, if any, the two-time All-Star might be absent due to the newest foot problem — which, currently, the team is calling simply injury management. Garland has appeared in only three contests this campaign, sitting out the initial pair of weeks while completing his recuperation from the surgical procedure and building up to basketball readiness.
Cleveland will also compete Wednesday without guard Donovan Mitchell and forward Evan Mobley — the league’s current best defensive player. Both are being held out for relaxation purposes, the Cavaliers mentioned.
Miami will once more be without Bam Adebayo (foot) and Tyler Herro (heel). Adebayo will be absent for his fourth straight contest and Herro has yet to participate this year subsequent to surgery over the summer period.
