Enzo Maresca responds to Pep Guardiola successor claims.

Chelsea’s head coach, Enzo Maresca, has dismissed suggestions that he is the leading candidate to succeed Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

An unexpected report published on Thursday disclosed that the Manchester-based club had positioned the Italian manager at the top of their shortlist for potential replacements, should Guardiola depart this summer.

Nevertheless, the current manager for the Blues emphasized that he has no capacity for rumors preceding their upcoming fixture against Newcastle this weekend.

“It holds no sway over me because I understand it is purely speculative, and I lack the time for such matters,” he conveyed to journalists on Friday.

“My agreement here extends until 2029. My undivided attention is solely on this club, and I take immense pride in being associated with it. A similar scenario emerged just last week in Italy involving Juventus.

“I pay no heed to it. While it’s important to discern the reason for such news, it remains mere conjecture. The game against Newcastle is crucial and exceptionally challenging.”

Chelsea currently holds the fourth spot in the Premier League, trailing the top team, Arsenal, by eight points.
