FanDuel Bans Credit Card Deposits March 2

As of March 2, FanDuel’s Sportsbook will cease to accept credit card payments for deposits, following a similar move made by DraftKings Sportsbook in August.

FanDuel released a statement indicating that this change was not a sudden one.

The betting platform explained that for the past several months, FanDuel has been assessing the payment options provided to its users. They ultimately decided to eliminate credit cards as an available choice for their Sportsbook, casino, and racing platforms within the United States. This modification, they indicated, was implemented to enhance the deposit process for their clientele.

A considerable number of individuals engaging in sports betting refrain from utilizing credit cards due to the associated charges they incur.

The actions taken by FanDuel received commendation from Massachusetts’ U.S. Senator, Elizabeth Warren.

Via social media, Warren communicated, “In the previous week, I addressed inquiries with sports gambling enterprises concerning how U.S. citizens face unfair charges from credit card firms when funding their sports bets, often involving a superfluous $10 charge just to facilitate a $20 deposit.”

She further added, “It is gratifying to observe FanDuel’s initiative in safeguarding patrons from these unwarranted charges, aligning with DraftKings. It is imperative that other entities in the sector adopt similar measures.”

Conversely, prominent betting sites like BetMGM and Caesars, which operate across the nation, continue to process credit card payments.

Furthermore, on January 22, FanDuel unveiled an initiative named “Play with a Plan,” designed to foster judicious betting practices. This scheme enables users to monitor their transactional history, impose personal expenditure caps, and configure alerts for deposits.
