“Our team was celebrating inside the boxing ring, elated after securing the world championship by a final-round knockout,” Robles recounted to Salvador Rodríguez. “Without warning, various projectiles—including plastic bottles filled with water, aluminum beverage cans, and coins—began to rain down on us from the spectators. The entire team found themselves under a deluge of thrown items.”
The coach observed that the onslaught originated from various sections of the audience as the gravity of Ball’s defeat began to sink in.
Security-Led Withdrawal
As the debris continued its descent, security teams quickly mobilized to safeguard the newly crowned champion and his support staff. Robles acknowledged the security’s prompt actions in averting potential harm. Security personnel promptly encircled Figueroa’s group, creating a protective barrier against the falling objects.
Emergency Egress: The group was hurried out of the ring while officials were still tabulating the conclusive scores.
