Houston initially secured all 13 points in the extra period, only for Minnesota to then amass 15 consecutive points, thrilling the vibrant audience at Target Center.
According to Jace Frederick from the Pioneer Press, this marks the first instance in the NBA’s play-by-play statistical era (commencing 1996-97) where a team has successfully recovered from a 13-point deficit in overtime.
Houston began the overtime period by scoring on its initial six possessions, establishing a 108-95 lead with 3 minutes and 1 second left, before the Timberwolves responded by scoring on their subsequent six possessions. Julius Randle sealed the victory with a fadeaway shot.
The Timberwolves commenced the match missing their star player Anthony Edwards and significant bench contributor Ayo Dosunmu. Subsequently, Jaden McDaniels left the game in the fourth quarter due to an apparent injury, Rudy Gobert accumulated too many fouls by the close of regulation, and Naz Reid was ejected by official Scott Foster just one minute into overtime.

Equally difficult is conceiving a more dispiriting defeat than the one the Rockets just endured, particularly as the squad seeks to build momentum in a month where their record stands at 5 wins and 6 losses.
If the Timberwolves had been defeated, the Rockets would have secured the season series. Instead, Minnesota holds its fifth-place standing with a 45-28 record and can clinch the tiebreaker with a victory in Houston on the tenth of April.
