Swiatek names ex-Nadal, Raducanu coach

Iga Swiatek, the reigning Wimbledon champion, is engaging the services of Francisco Roig – a coach who previously worked with Rafael Nadal and Emma Raducanu – with the aim of improving her recent erratic performance.

The Polish athlete, Swiatek, has found it challenging to establish a consistent flow in her game during 2026, with her campaigns at both the Australian Open and Indian Wells concluding in the quarter-finals.

The 24-year-old player typically excels on clay surfaces, having secured four of her six Grand Slam trophies at Roland Garros, and has enlisted Roig’s expertise in anticipation of the upcoming competition in Paris next month.

Swiatek publicly acknowledged the collaboration through an Instagram announcement, where she expressed: “welcome to the team, Francisco! Very excited for this new chapter”.

Hailing from Spain, Roig served as a coach for the British player Raducanu for half a year between 2025 and 2026, though his reputation largely stems from his remarkable 17-year period alongside the 22-time major title holder, Nadal.

The world’s fourth-ranked player, Swiatek, was formerly guided by Wim Fissette, who assisted her in achieving her debut Wimbledon championship in July, but their association ended subsequent to Swiatek’s early exit in the first round of the Miami Open back in March.
