It took Jackson Koivun just a matter of weeks to claim his maiden victory on the PGA Tour.
At just 21 years old, the standout alumnus from Auburn has already crossed the million-dollar earnings mark.
Dominating the field at the 3M Open over the weekend, Koivun held off the world’s top-ranked player to secure his first-ever Tour title. By carding a 5-under-par 66 during Sunday’s final round at TPC Twin Cities, he finished the tournament at 25-under overall, sealing a three-stroke triumph.
This first-place finish earned him a payout of $1.584 million from the total prize pool of $8.8 million on offer in Blaine, Minnesota.
A brilliant 10-under 61 on Saturday allowed Koivun to head into Sunday holding a three-stroke advantage. His stellar back-nine score of 28 during the third round established a new tournament benchmark and positioned him at 20-under heading into the final day.
Despite a fierce surge from Scheffler—who fired an 8-under in his closing round to finish only two shots back—Koivun remained unfazed. Maintaining his composure, he wrapped up a clean, bogey-free round to clinch the title merely 24 days after launching his professional career.
After claiming two national championships at Auburn and sweeping every major college golf award last season, Koivun made the leap to the professional ranks following the U.S. Open. He followed up a tied-for-23rd performance at Shinnecock Hills with a top-10 finish at the ISCO Championship shortly thereafter.
