In a change of leadership, the Cadillac Formula 1 squad has named Marcin Budkowski as its new team principal, replacing Graeme Lowdon in the role.
The 49-year-old Budkowski boasts a quarter-century of diverse experience in the sport, having served as an aerodynamicist for Prost, Ferrari, and McLaren, and later running the technical department of the FIA.
After his time with the governing body, he moved to Renault as executive director, later co-managing team principal responsibilities with Davide Brivio during the 2021 championship. Since departing that role, he has worked in media analysis and consulting.
“The Cadillac Formula 1 Team possesses a remarkable setup and immense drive,” remarked Budkowski.
“We are entering an incredibly promising period for this organization, centered around a singular goal: squeezing every ounce of performance out of our car development under budget limits and priming every department for intense competition.
“This requires establishing a top-tier operation with a championship mentality—one that is highly motivated, undeterred by challenges, meticulous about systems and details, and capable of flawless execution during Grand Prix weekends.
“I will prioritize integrating our staff, technology, and data streams to ensure swift, accurate decision-making and continuous vehicle progress at every round. Taking the helm of Cadillac’s trackside operations starting at next week’s Zandvoort event is an incredible honor.”

The Polish engineer, who completed his education in France, is tasked with lifting the struggling squad up the grid while the operation integrates into F1 and relocates to its upcoming headquarters in Indiana. Currently sitting at the bottom of the team standings, Cadillac is still searching for its first-ever championship points.
“Bringing Marcin on board represents a vital milestone in the ongoing growth of the Cadillac Formula 1 Team,” stated Chief Executive Dan Towriss.
“From day one, our objective wasn’t merely to show up in Formula 1, but rather to construct a modern powerhouse capable of battling for victories at the front of the pack.
“As this fresh chapter begins for our squad, Marcin’s stellar Grand Prix background, technical knowledge, and strategic direction will reinforce our structure and foster the victorious culture, resources, and workflows needed for enduring success.”
With Budkowski taking over, the previous team boss, Lowdon, who joined the operation in December 2024, will exit the organization.
“We extend our appreciation to Graeme Lowdon for his guidance and his work in launching the Cadillac Formula 1 Team from scratch,” Towriss went on to say.
“His efforts provided us with a solid base during our initial development period; we are thankful for his dedication and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
