Arthur Fery, who recently made the semi-finals at Wimbledon, has earned a spot in the Great Britain Davis Cup squad for their upcoming September clash with Ecuador.
Although former world number four Jack Draper is absent from the current roster, an additional fifth squad member will be selected as the fixture approaches.
Completing the lineup for the tie at the Copper Box Arena in London are British number one Cameron Norrie, Lloyd Glasspool, and Henry Patten.
“Representing Great Britain once more fills me with immense pride,” stated Fery. “This occasion will feel quite distinct, playing in front of a home crowd within the World Group as we strive to reach the final eight.
“The expectations might be higher, but I am fully prepared for the challenge.”
The 24-year-old Fery climbed to a personal-best world ranking of 36 after his surprising run at Wimbledon, where he originally entered the home Grand Slam as a wildcard recipient.
Starting the event in 114th position globally, Fery eventually became the lowest-ranked competitor to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals since Goran Ivanisevic achieved the feat in 2001.
This upcoming event marks the first time Fery will compete on English soil since his Wimbledon campaign.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Draper was visibly emotional earlier in the month, weeping during his return match—his first since June—as he continues to struggle with long-standing injuries.
An ongoing arm issue has kept him off the court, triggering a dramatic slide in his world ranking from a high of fourth down to 160th in the span of a year.
Scheduled for September 19 and 20, the best-of-five match series will open with a pair of singles contests on the first day.
The action on the second day will commence with a doubles fixture, followed by the remaining two singles matchups.
