LIV Golfer Harold Varner III Asked to Leave Indiana Course for Playing in Sixsome

A golf facility in Indiana has addressed an altercation involving LIV Golf player Harold Varner III alongside teammates from OKGC, which led to the entire party being ejected from the venue earlier this week.

While in town for the LIV Golf Indianapolis event, Varner had booked a slot at Bear Slide Golf Club, situated in Cicero, Indiana, for Tuesday. The establishment shared on social media that although Varner had scheduled a tee time for four people, he showed up half an hour behind schedule accompanied by five other players, making a total of six.

The golf course stated they worked to fit the group in, under the condition that they divide themselves into two separate trios. The players demanded to play together as a single six-person unit, but a club employee informed them this was against the rules. Despite being denied, they pressured the starter four additional times to allow the sixsome, leading one member of the party to accuse the employee of impolite behavior.

“Although the starter declined, they were told they could consult the pro shop,” the Facebook update detailed. “Mr. Varner proceeded to request permission from the pro shop on three different occasions to play as an oversized party, but was repeatedly told that this was strictly forbidden, particularly with other players following behind.”

“Subsequently, the players started their round as two distinct threesomes, maintaining this format for the first three holes. However, once they reached the par-3 fourth hole, far from the main building, they merged. A player from the group claimed they were merely observing the preceding group’s tee shots, but this was entirely false. Our employees witnessed all six individuals teeing off and finishing the hole as a single group.”

Once they wrapped up the fourth hole, venue representatives instructed the party to exit the premises. The players were told their green fees would be refunded. Meanwhile, Bear Slide Golf Club denied claims that staff members had aggressively ordered the players to “Get the hell off the course.”

When the confrontation occurred and Varner’s group was ejected, multiple parties were waiting on the third and fourth tee boxes, and two other groups were playing the second hole, the course reported.

“It is possible this party assumed they deserved exceptional treatment owing to their status and professional affiliation,” Bear Slide Golf Club remarked in the post. “Nonetheless, our philosophy is that all patrons deserve equal treatment and must adhere to identical regulations, no matter their skill level or public profile.”
