The NFL has made the decision to lift the suspension of Denver Broncos edge rusher Jonathon Cooper from the Commissioner’s Exempt List on Friday. This action comes just one day after the team secured a victory against the Seattle Seahawks in overtime, bringing their season record to 4-2.
Cooper had been on this list for a six-game duration following charges filed against him regarding multiple incidents of domestic violence occurring last offseason, involving his former girlfriend.
Jonathon Cooper Taken Off the Commissioner’s Exempt List
“The NFL has reinstated Broncos OLB Jonathan Cooper from the commissioner exempt list, sources tell @ringer @netflixsports,” NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported on Friday. “Cooper missed Denver’s first six games while the league conducted an investigation into potential violations of personal conduct. However, he is now eligible to participate starting next week.”
The league also announced its intention to reinstate Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs next Monday, resulting in a shared six-game absence from the field for both athletes.
Although the investigation concerning Cooper continues and the NFL may consider extending his suspension in the following weeks, he seems set to play against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 7 for the moment.
