The Mavericks’ standout player Cooper Flagg exited Dallas’ victory over the Indiana Pacers, 121-105, during the second quarter on Friday due to “soreness in his left shoulder.”
Flagg went down following a significant foul from Pacers forward Aaron Nesmith, who seemingly struck Flagg in the back of the head, resulting in the Mavericks forward landing awkwardly.
This incident ignited a heated confrontation between Nesmith and Mavericks forward Naji Marshall, leading to Nesmith needing to be separated from the situation.
Nesmith was assessed with a flagrant foul due to the contact, while both he and Marshall received technical fouls as a result of the altercation.
After Nesmith’s flagrant foul, which occurred in the final moments of the half, Flagg successfully made both of his free throws. He was substituted out afterwards and proceeded to the locker room before halftime, noticeably holding his left shoulder.
When Flagg left the game, he had scored 14 points for the Mavericks within 17 minutes of playing time.
The Mavericks ultimately secured a 16-point win over the Pacers, led by Kyrie Irving’s 24 points. Dallas had a lead that reached up to 37 points during the game.
