F1 Mexico City Grand Prix: Live Updates, Starting Grid, Results, Weather & Best Bets – Yahoo Sports

Formula 1 makes its return this weekend, continuing its journey across the Americas with the second installment of a triple-header in Mexico City. The Mexico City Grand Prix is the 19th of the 23 planned rounds in the world championship.

Having almost secured the world title last week at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, 20-year-old Kimi Antonelli is on the verge of becoming the youngest champion in the history of the sport. All that Antonelli — who comes into this race with a 123-point advantage over his Mercedes teammate George Russell and a 124-point lead over Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton — has to do is finish the grand prix in ninth place or higher, regardless of his competitors’ results.

A finish of 10th or lower still awards Antonelli the title, as long as neither Russell nor Hamilton takes the win in the grand prix.

If he succeeds in this, he will become the fifth driver to win the title in Mexico City, joining the ranks of John Surtees (Ferrari, 1964), Denny Hulme (Brabham, 1967), Graham Hill (Lotus, 1968), and Hamilton (Mercedes, 2017 and 2018).
