Action returned to Nevada tonight for the UFC Vegas 123 event, where four competitors managed to walk away with post-fight performance bonuses.
Tonight’s fight card was headlined by an eagerly awaited lightweight matchup between Renato Moicano and Tom Nolan. The showdown turned out to be an engaging, back-and-forth battle. Moicano began impressively, utilizing his grappling and submission skills to neutralize Nolan throughout the initial round. The second frame started similarly; yet, even though Moicano secured back control alongside a body triangle, the official chose to reset the combatants on their feet. This standing restart gave Nolan the opportunity to dominate the striking exchanges, and after punishing ‘Money’ near the end of the second frame, ‘Big Train’ swiftly wrapped up the victory early in round three.
Serving as the co-main event for UFC Vegas 123 was a welterweight clash putting Randy Brown against Jacobe Smith. The bout delivered yet another dominant display from Smith. The unblemished rising star controlled ‘Rude Boy’ across the entire 15-minute fight, leaving Brown bloodied courtesy of some brutal elbow strikes.
Once the card wrapped up, UFC executives revealed during the post-fight press briefing that four athletes had earned post-fight performance monetary awards.
