The Australian Esports League has revealed a collaboration with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation to introduce a competitive esports event for students.

Dubbed the Victorian Virtual Grand Prix, students enrolled in Victorian educational institutions will vie for an opportunity to attend the Australian Grand Prix, which marks the commencement of the current Formula One campaign.

Participation in this contest is priced at $25 AUD (approximately £13.11) and offers dual tracks for students in both primary and secondary education. Learners between 10 and 12 years old will engage in a physical competition at Kingsville Primary School on February 28th. The leading four racers will proceed to the Grand Prix Finals, scheduled for March 5th.

The route for secondary schoolers welcomes Victorian students from Years 7 through 12. Competitors will participate in virtual qualifying rounds using F1 24 on PC and Xbox platforms, with the twelve highest-ranked drivers earning a spot in the Grand Prix Finals.

The Grand Prix Finals will be hosted at the Innovation Hub, found inside Melbourne’s Albert Park Circuit. Those who reach the finals will gain free one-day entry to the Australian Grand Prix for themselves and one parent. These sixteen competitors will engage in racing on advanced simulation setups, crafted to deliver a deeply absorbing experience.

HyperX is set to back the Victorian Virtual Grand Prix, having formed an alliance with the Australian Esports League in December 2025. This prominent gaming accessories company will also furnish various awards for the top three competitors, with the victor earning a headset, a gaming mouse, a gaming monitor, and a unique trophy.

Australia’s Commitment to Simulation Racing

In Australia, virtual racing continues to serve as an effective method for engaging and guiding hopeful drivers toward actual motorsport careers. During January, Motorsport Australia prolonged its collaborative agreement with Next Level Racing, thereby maintaining its backing for the organization’s esports ventures.

Through this collaboration with the Australian Grand Prix organizers, students residing in Victoria are presented with a chance to participate in an organized competition and experience one of the region’s most significant athletic occasions.
