Alcaraz’s US Open Win: The Inspiring Self-Note

It’s hard not to feel captivated when observing Alcaraz in action.

He seems to effortlessly execute the kinds of strokes that players dedicate countless hours to perfecting. In the championship match against Sinner, he delivered a remarkable sliced smash that arced towards the sidelines, completely catching the Italian off guard.

In the past, he’s faced criticism for sometimes favoring the spectacular shot over the more pragmatic choice. However, at Flushing Meadows, he effectively blended both aspects of his game to keep his adversaries guessing.

“I believe he’s maturing. It’s a natural part of life,” Ferrero commented.

“We have a very clear understanding of what he needs to work on, both on and off the court, and I think he’s becoming more aware of his capacity for improvement.”

His unique style of play is a key factor in his appeal, along with his approachable and amiable demeanor both on and off the court.

He frequently dedicates time to signing autographs after training sessions and cheerfully joked about a rather drastic haircut his brother unintentionally gave him during the initial week of the Slam.

Appearing with a closely shaved head, Alcaraz explained that his brother had an accident with the clippers while trimming his hair, leaving him with no other option than to go for a buzz-cut.

And then there are his celebratory gestures.

Alcaraz marked each of his victories at the US Open by imitating a golf swing, alluding to how he had been spending his leisure time in New York – playing golf alongside fellow countryman and 2017 Masters champion Sergio Garcia.

Following his quarter-final match, Alcaraz stated that he was “here to provide entertainment for the audience, myself, and my team.”

He has undeniably achieved that objective – with the added advantage of departing the city as the tournament victor.
