The Indianapolis Colts confirmed the return of wide receiver Alec Pierce, having sealed a new agreement. As reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the terms of this deal span four years and are valued at $116 million.
This agreement reportedly includes $84 million in guaranteed money, with an immediate full guarantee of $60 million upon signing, as per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Following a standout 2025 campaign, Pierce was recognized as one of the premier wide receivers available on the free-agent market this cycle. He has now secured an extended contract to continue his career in Indianapolis, resolving at least one key uncertainty surrounding the Colts’ offensive lineup ahead of the free agency period.
Several franchises expressed interest in Pierce, including the New England Patriots, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, and San Francisco 49ers, as documented by Dianna Russini of The Athletic, who highlighted that the prospective free agent opted for a lesser financial offer from other clubs to stay with Indianapolis.
The announcement of Pierce’s renewed commitment follows the team’s application of the transition tag to quarterback Daniel Jones in the previous week. This tag enables Jones to participate under a fully guaranteed single-year agreement worth $37.833 million for the 2026 season, simultaneously permitting discussions with rival NFL teams. Should he accept an offer from an alternative team, the Colts retain the right to equal that proposal. Each NFL club is limited to applying either the franchise or transition tag to a single upcoming free agent.
Pierce was at the forefront for the Colts in 2025, accumulating 1,0003 receiving yards, setting a new personal best, and topping the NFL in average yards per catch for both of the last two seasons. Following initial seasons where he couldn’t exceed 600 receiving yards or two touchdowns, he made a significant advancement in his third year during 2024. His combined statistics for the previous two seasons show 1,827 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.
At 25 years old, Pierce was initially drafted by the Colts from Cincinnati as a second-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft. Standing at 6 feet 3 inches and weighing 211 pounds, Pierce provides substantial physical presence and potential as a deep pass target, a role that has become crucial to his performance at the professional tier. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Pierce was tied for the fifth-highest number of deep catches (9) and was second in deep receiving touchdowns (4) throughout the 2025 season.
