Alexander Out for Eagles Debut in Green Bay

PHILADELPHIA — Newly acquired Eagles cornerback Jaire Alexander did not accompany the team to Green Bay and will be absent from the matchup against his former team, the Packers, on “Monday Night Football.”

The Eagles have established a strategy regarding both Alexander’s knee condition and his adaptation to their defensive scheme, determining that it was preferable for him to remain behind and persist with his preparations.

Alexander, aged 28, was obtained from the Baltimore Ravens along with a 2027 seventh-round selection in return for a 2026 sixth-round pick prior to the NFL’s trade deadline last week.

Alexander, who had surgery on his right knee in January, participated in only two games for the Ravens and encountered challenges during his time on the field. However, he conveyed to reporters last week that he is currently experiencing his best physical condition of the year.

“I believe when you consider [him] still [being] a relatively young player, understanding his present health status, feeling healthy, feeling well, we concluded that the potential benefits outweighed the risk associated with acquiring him,” Eagles general manager Howie Roseman stated.

Recognized as an All-Pro in both 2020 and 2022, Alexander spent the initial seven seasons of his professional career with the Packers before his release in June.
