The chief strategist for Man United, Ruben Amorim, has already decided on his starting lineup for the anticipated Manchester derby – and the choice for one key position might catch you off guard.
The Red Devils are keen on securing a victory against their cross-city rivals, aiming to add to the challenges faced by Pep Guardiola’s squad early in the season, particularly after the Etihad club suffered defeats in two of their initial three Premier League games.
Following the departure of goalkeeper Andre Onana, who had a tendency for costly errors, to Trabzonspor earlier in the week, Amorim has finalized his decision on which goalkeeper will be wearing the No.1 jersey in the high-stakes match on the east side of Manchester this weekend.

Senne Lammens was a late addition during the transfer period, arriving from Club Brugge to contend with Altay Bayindir. Bayindir has been Amorim’s preferred choice at the start of the season, though his performances have been somewhat shaky.
In a pre-match statement before Man United’s journey across the city, Amorim communicated his intent to refrain from immediately placing the newly acquired Lammens into the starting eleven, offering multiple justifications for this decision.
“A different division, a different nation, a different type of ball. They will both be competing for their place. That much is definite.
“Altay will be in the starting eleven. He is prepared to participate, and he will,” the Portuguese manager stated.
Furthermore, Amorim commented on Onana’s transfer, noting a decline in the goalkeeper’s performance ‘level’.
“I extend my best wishes to Andre Onana; he proved to be excellent in his interactions with teammates.
“Despite possessing immense talent, a change of scenery is sometimes necessary to regain your former form. We felt this was the case, and Andre shared this sentiment.”
Manchester United will be guests at the Etihad Stadium, with the match commencing at 4:30pm on Sunday.
