Anisimova Wins China Open, Defeats Noskova

Amanda Anisimova prolonged her stellar season by securing a triumph against Linda Noskova at the China Open, earning her second WTA 1,000 championship.

Anisimova, who reached the final at both Wimbledon and the US Open, navigated a shifting contest to defeat the Czech player with a score of 6-0, 2-6, 6-2. Notably, she had previously overcome Noskova en route to the final at the All England Club.

Noskova, participating in her inaugural WTA 1,000 grand stage, managed to secure a mere 12 points in the initial set, which lasted 23 minutes. She experienced a ‘bagel,’ failing to win a single game in the set.

Nonetheless, employing a more assertive strategy, Noskova managed to break her American adversary in the opening game of the subsequent set.

The 27th-ranked player in the world rebounded from consecutive double faults in the subsequent game to solidify her break, subsequently clinching the second set to even the score in the match.

Anisimova, who committed 17 unforced errors in the second set compared to just four in the first, demonstrated improvement in the deciding set, breaking Noskova in the sixth game before ultimately claiming victory.

“The past several weeks have been truly remarkable,” expressed Anisimova, currently ranked fourth globally, adding that Sunday’s triumph “holds profound significance” and that she “anticipates many more exciting moments.”
