Magomed Ankalaev expressed strong opinions regarding Jiri Prochazka following the events of UFC 327.
Prochazka entered the Octagon against Carlos Ulberg, aiming for a second UFC Light Heavyweight title. During the initial stages of the bout, Ulberg sustained a knee injury. Despite predictions that this might spell the end for “Black Jag,” Prochazka was hit by a hook, causing him to fall. Ulberg then delivered additional strikes on the ground, securing a knockout victory.
Post-fight, Ankalaev exacerbated Prochazka’s defeat by strongly criticizing his performance across several posts on X.
“Jiri, refrain from mentioning me further,” Ankalaev articulated. “Your only justification for doing so is if you desire a bout. These competitors do not match my skill. Congratulations, Carlos. Prochazka has been knocked out in half of his recent six contests. I am unwilling to hear his name associated with title contention any longer; it has gone on too long.”
Once the commotion subsided, Prochazka asserted he lowered his defense upon noticing Ulberg’s injury. Ankalaev views this as a mere rationalization.
“He persistently kicked Carlos’s legs,” Ankalaev continued. “He displayed no leniency. Deceptive.”
Ankalaev and Prochazka have a documented history of verbal sparring. In October 2025, Prochazka informed Ariel Helwani that he thought about confronting Ankalaev and his manager, Ali Abdelaziz, concerning remarks made about him leading up to UFC 320.
Prochazka confessed to hoping Alex Pereira would emerge victorious over Ankalaev in their subsequent fight. In the end, “Poatan” indeed halted Ankalaev with a first-round technical knockout. Ankalaev has not fought since then, but a matchup against Prochazka could be a logical next step now.
