Anthony Joshua Reportedly Injured in Nigerian Car Crash Killing Two

A prominent heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, sustained injuries in a vehicular accident in Nigeria, which tragically claimed two lives.

According to local law enforcement, Joshua suffered slight wounds in the Monday collision and was transported to a medical facility, as reported by the BBC. Although the precise extent of Joshua’s injuries remains undisclosed for now, an associate of the boxer informed ESPN that “initial signs suggest he is fine.”

Eddie Hearn, who promotes Joshua, expressed a similar view when speaking to the Daily Mail, despite mentioning his ongoing efforts to contact the fighter.

Reports indicate Joshua was a passenger in an SUV involved in a collision with a parked lorry. Olusegun Ogungbemide, a representative for the Federal Road Safety Corps, stated that preliminary inquiries suggested the automobile carrying Joshua seemed “to be moving at a speed exceeding the lawful limit on that stretch of road, subsequently losing command during an attempt to pass another vehicle and impacting a static truck properly parked at the roadside,” as cited by the Associated Press.

Joshua, aged 36, is understood to be enjoying a holiday in Nigeria. Both his mother and father are Nigerian natives, and he spent a portion of his early years there.

This accident occurred just days following Joshua’s triumph over Jake Paul in an an eight-round heavyweight boxing match streamed on Netflix. Joshua delivered a knockout blow to Paul in the sixth round, inflicting a fractured jaw upon him.

Paul conveyed his condolences and prayers for Joshua and those who perished in the Monday accident.
