Craig Tiley has been named the new chief executive of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), following his 13-year tenure at Tennis Australia.
Tiley, who previously served as the Australian Open tournament director and Tennis Australia’s chief executive, is set to take over from Lew Sherr, who has moved to Major League Baseball’s New York Mets.
The 64-year-old South African will officially commence his duties at the USTA later this year, subsequent to facilitating an orderly handover of management at Tennis Australia.
Tiley, who once coached at the collegiate level in the United States, commented: “I have consistently held the organization’s leadership in high regard for its efforts in expanding the sport throughout the United States and for the remarkable achievements of the US Open.”
“I am eager to come back to American tennis and collaborate with our local and national leaders to further enhance the sport’s presence, influence, and prospects.”
