Vehicles that have secured championships and achieved numerous wins often command the spotlight when discussing the most exceptional Formula 1 cars ever. However, several remarkable machines have come very close to achieving top honors without quite making it.
We believe these vehicles are also worthy of acknowledgment. Therefore, for Autosport’s newest Top 10 feature, prominent F1 reporter Maurice Hamilton will be alongside presenter Kevin Turner to deliberate and explore the top 10 Formula 1 cars that never clinched a championship.
The Lotus 78 is not included because it contributed to Lotus securing a double championship in 1978 before the introduction of the 79 (its impact being far greater than that of the 312B3-74 in 1975). Similarly, the 1991 Williams FW14 is omitted because of its close resemblance to the technologically advanced ‘B’ variant, which was dominant in 1992.
