Avery Johnson’s Father, Brother Apologize for Post-Game Fight in Dublin

A declaration was released on Sunday by the parent and sibling of Kansas State’s signal-caller, Avery Johnson, subsequent to a video recording of their physical altercation in Dublin gaining traction across various social media platforms.

Johnson was the starting quarterback for the Wildcats during their defeat at the hands of Iowa State, with a final score of 24-21, on the preceding Saturday. As stated in their announcement, his father, Mark, and brother, Anthony, attributed the fracas to “pointless quarreling” that arose in the aftermath of the game.

“We wish to convey our sincerest apologies for our conduct subsequent to yesterday’s football match in Ireland,” their message expressed. “Unnecessary arguments escalated into an avoidable physical confrontation. We have since addressed our disagreements and accept complete accountability for our actions. We have issued apologies to both our close and extended family members, and we now offer our apologies to Kansas State University, its alumni, and its devoted supporters. We deeply regret this occurrence, have gained valuable insights from it, and are dedicated to ensuring that it will not recur in the future. Kindly accept our most profound apologies.”

Footage capturing portions of the altercation, depicting numerous individuals attempting to intervene, can be viewed in the ensuing video.

Johnson is poised to embark on his second season as the primary quarterback for Kansas State in the year 2025. In the year 2024, he amassed 2,712 passing yards and 605 rushing yards, contributing to a total of 32 touchdowns. During Saturday’s match, he completed 21 out of 30 passes for 273 yards, alongside 21 rushing yards, and accounted for three touchdowns. Following Johnson’s successful 65-yard touchdown pass to Jerand Bradley, narrowing Iowa State’s advantage to a mere three points with 6:23 remaining on the game clock, the Wildcats did not regain possession of the ball as Iowa State effectively managed the remaining time.
