BAN vs PAK: Bangladesh Wins Series Despite Ashraf’s Fifty in Thriller

The Tigers triumphed over The Green Shirts in a nail-biting encounter, clinching a close 8-run victory in the second match of the series. In a tense battle that extended to the final stages, the hosts maintained composure to defend a reasonable total and won the series with a game to spare.

Jaker Ali led a determined batting effort from Bangladesh

On a surface providing uneven bounce and minimal room for error, Bangladesh demonstrated resolve with the bat to reach a defendable 133 in 20 overs after being put in to bat by Pakistan. Jaker Ali shone with a steady 55 off 48 balls, holding the innings together under duress. Mahedi Hasan contributed a valuable push in the central overs with a brisk 33 off 25 deliveries, adding impetus when Bangladesh were struggling at 28 for 4.

In general, Pakistan’s bowling performance was satisfactory. Salman Mirza stood out as the top bowler with two dismissals and accurate deliveries. Ahmed Daniyal and Abbas Afridi also secured two wickets each. The bowlers maintained control, preventing Bangladesh from establishing any substantial partnerships.

Faheem Ashraf’s valiant attempt concludes in disappointment

Pakistan’s batting began poorly, losing five wickets for only 15 runs. Amid the setback, Faheem Ashraf delivered a spirited innings of 51 off 32 balls, hitting 4 boundaries and 4 sixes. His aggressive response, along with rapid scoring from Abbas Afridi and Ahmed Daniyal, provided Pakistan with a late surge. However, Faheem’s dismissal in the final over dashed their hopes, as Pakistan were all out for 125 in 19.2 overs.

Bangladesh’s bowlers remained composed under strain and performed effectively as a unit. Shoriful Islam was impressive early on, taking 3 wickets including the crucial dismissals of Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Haris. Mahedi Hasan kept things under control and claimed two middle-order wickets. Tanzim Hasan Sakib also made two breakthroughs, removing both Nawaz siblings early. Mustafizur Rahman and Rishad Hossain chipped in with one wicket apiece, assisting Bangladesh in defending 133 and winning the game by 8 runs.
