Bella Mir preserved her undefeated status, triumphing in her initial contest in three years with a swift victory via an unusual submission at Fury FC’s Challenger Series 14 on Sunday.
After a series of striking exchanges while standing, Mir rapidly moved in for a single leg takedown, preventing Calderon from regaining her footing. Once Mir secured the ground position, she methodically worked to improve her control, eventually attaining the mount, which prompted her opponent to scramble, ultimately exposing her back.
Mir swiftly seized a one-armed kimura while simultaneously attempting a rear-naked choke. Ultimately, Mir applied intense pressure to the arm behind Calderon’s back, leaving her no alternative but to tap out to avoid potential harm.

The match concluded at 3:58 of the first round.
“That’s essentially folkstyle wrestling. It’s a chicken wing,” Mir explained regarding her submission. “I’m simply pleased that I had the opportunity to showcase my striking abilities during this fight because I aimed to demonstrate that I could exchange blows with formidable strikers like Stephanie. I view this as a significant triumph.”
Mir, daughter of two-time UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir, had not competed since 2022, primarily due to her concentration on her wrestling career, which commenced at the University of Iowa and subsequently led to a transfer to North Central College. She achieved second place at the NCAA Wrestling Championships during the previous season, with aspirations of securing a title as she enters her senior year in the autumn.
With intentions of participating in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Mir previously communicated to MMA Fighting that she is presently prioritizing wrestling, although she harbors ambitions of eventually becoming a member of the UFC roster. She was the first athlete ever sponsored by the organization through a name, image, and likeness agreement when Mir began her college career.
However, given her demanding wrestling agenda, which also involves incorporating grappling matches when feasible, Mir acknowledged that she might not have the chance to engage in another fight until 2026.
“Perhaps we will resume competition next year,” Mir remarked. “This was enjoyable. I am eagerly anticipating the future.”
This victory advanced Mir’s professional fighting record to 4-0, with all of her wins obtained through submission.
