The Vancouver Canucks’ Brock Boeser was absent from their Sunday contest against the Capitals in Washington, D.C., because of individual matters.

Canucks’ general manager, Patrik Allvin, communicated the information using the team’s social media platforms Sunday morning, without providing a date for Boeser’s comeback.

Jonathan Lekkerimaki was put into the lineup as a substitute against the Capitals.

This season, Boeser has three goals in five games played for Vancouver, including a shootout goal that clinched a 3-2 victory against Chicago on Friday.

In July, the 28-year-old right-winger avoided unrestricted free agency by agreeing to a new seven-year contract with the Canucks, valued at $50.75 million US.

Boeser, selected as the 23rd overall pick by Vancouver during the 2015 draft, has participated in each of his 559 NHL regular-season games as a member of the Canucks, successfully scoring 207 goals and providing 237 assists.
