LOS ANGELES — During Monday night’s contest, a 125-108 victory for the Phoenix Suns against the Los Angeles Lakers, Suns standout Devin Booker had to exit the game due to an issue with his right groin.
Booker participated for the initial ten minutes of the game’s first quarter before being taken out, with Phoenix holding a slight deficit at 27-26. During his time on the court, he accumulated 11 points, successfully making 4 of his 7 shot attempts, alongside contributing 3 assists and securing 2 rebounds.
“The incident seemed to occur when he was concluding the play against [Jaxson] Hayes, involving a chest-to-chest encounter, after which he completed the play,” Suns head coach Jordan Ott explained in response to inquiries about how the injury happened. “He took a fall, and it wasn’t immediately apparent, but he indicated feeling discomfort a couple of plays later, which was evident as he tried to stretch it out. We generally recognize these types of situations. We will assess it further tomorrow to gain more information.”
Prior to Monday’s game, Booker had been present in each of Phoenix’s 21 games, leading the Suns in scoring with an average of 25.7 points and providing 6.9 assists per game.
The Suns demonstrated their capability even without his continued presence, exceeding the Lakers’ score by 35-21 in the second quarter, establishing a 66-52 advantage by halftime.
Under the guidance of Ott, the team’s inaugural year coach, Phoenix currently holds a 13-9 record and occupies the No. 7 position in the Western Conference standings.
