The Ottawa Senators’ team leader, Brady Tkachuk, expressed optimism about rejoining the team this Friday for their game against St. Louis, following a surgical procedure on his thumb.

During a recent episode of his podcast, Wingmen, recorded this Wednesday, the 26-year-old stated, “I need to pass several assessments, but indications point positively towards being ready for Friday.”

Tkachuk has been absent for 19 games following an incident on October 13 when he was illegally checked from behind into the boards by Nashville’s Roman Josi, which resulted in an injury to his right thumb. This occurred during Ottawa’s third game of the season.

So far this season, the Senators have achieved victory in 11 out of 22 games, maintaining a balance with 71 goals both scored and conceded.

Amidst a highly competitive Eastern Conference, the team currently has a narrow advantage for a playoff position and is presently undertaking a seven-game series of away games. The anticipated return of Tkachuk aligns favorably with the team’s only scheduled visit to the Midwestern city where he spent his formative years.

Last season, Tkachuk was the Senators’ leading point scorer with 29 goals, guiding the team to its first participation in the playoffs since 2017.
