Brewers Tie Record with 13-Game Win Streak After Overcoming 7-Run Deficit

Evidently, overcoming a substantial seven-run deficit wasn’t enough to halt the Milwaukee Brewers’ impressive streak of victories.

After trailing the Cincinnati Reds 8-1 on Friday, the Brewers mounted a comeback, securing their 13th consecutive win, matching a team record for most successive wins in a single season. Their record stands at 77-44, maintaining their position as the top team in Major League Baseball.

Milwaukee’s initial struggles stemmed from Jacob Misiorowski’s abbreviated start, upon his return from the injured list. The Reds capitalized on the rookie and reliever DL Hall, scoring eight runs in the initial two innings, causing the Brewers’ chances of victory to plummet to a mere 3.1%.

However, they prevented any further hits for the remainder of the game. Relievers Nick Mears, Aaron Ashby, Abner Uribe, Jared Koenig, and Trevor Megill collectively pitched five hitless innings, striking out nine batters. Simultaneously, the Brewers’ offense, which has been dominant in baseball over the past month, began to rally.

A five-run third inning, highlighted by another home run from Andrew Vaughn, revitalized the game. Christian Yelich, who initiated Milwaukee’s scoring with a solo home run in the second inning, equalized the score with an RBI single in the fourth inning. He then secured the lead with his second home run of the game in the sixth inning.

Yelich showcased his performance while using a Bob Uecker-themed bat, as part of MLB’s Players Weekend.

According to MLB.com’s Sarah Langs, this comeback win was the largest ever to preserve a win streak of 13 games or longer.

The Brewers have already treated their supporters to complimentary burgers and have achieved three separate win streaks of at least eight games. They possess a six-game advantage for the best record in baseball and a nine-game lead in the National League Central division. While much can transpire between now and October, they are emerging as a prominent team to monitor as the postseason progresses.
