Brooks Koepka has submitted an application to regain his PGA Tour membership, as confirmed by several sources. This move comes less than four weeks after his departure from LIV Golf, even though he had a full year left on his agreement with the competing circuit.
Following the five-time major winner’s separation from LIV Golf on December 23, 2025, there was an anticipation that he would eventually seek to return to the PGA Tour. For this to happen, Koepka must secure active playing status, considering his hiatus since the 2021-22 season. Nevertheless, given his recent major championship victory, he might be exempt from the standard, lower-tier qualification processes.
The exact process for his reinstatement remains uncertain, primarily because the PGA Tour reserves the authority to impose disciplinary measures or demand compensation before players such as Koepka are permitted to participate in events again. Presently, the PGA Tour enforces a twelve-month ban on any golfer who takes part in unsanctioned competitions. LIV Golf tournaments fall under this classification.
“Brooks Koepka is an extremely skilled professional, and we extend our best wishes for ongoing success to him and his loved ones,” the PGA Tour declared in a public announcement when Koepka announced his exit from LIV Golf. “The PGA Tour consistently provides the top professional golfers with the most competitive, demanding, and profitable setting to achieve excellence.”
Throughout his time with LIV Golf, Koepka secured five wins on the tour and also triumphed in the 2023 PGA Championship. Consequently, he possesses a five-year automatic entry into all of golf’s four major tournaments.
Upon his exit from LIV Golf, there was conjecture that Koepka might dedicate 2026 to his family prior to making a comeback to the PGA Tour in 2027. His management team seemed to indicate a similar sentiment just last month.
“His family has consistently influenced Brooks’ choices, and he believes this is the opportune time to dedicate more attention to his home life,” Koepka’s management group communicated in an official announcement. “Brooks intends to remain a strong advocate for LIV Golf and extends his hopes for ongoing prosperity to the league and its competitors. Brooks maintains a strong devotion to the sport of golf and will keep his admirers informed about his future endeavors.”
Although PGA Tour Chief Executive Officer Brian Rolapp might endeavor to persuade the PGA Tour Board of Directors to reverse certain regulations and welcome back Koepka, numerous individuals within the PGA Tour have previously voiced displeasure towards athletes who left the circuit and fractured the sport, under the impression that LIV Golf presented more appealing prospects.
Between 2014 and 2022, Koepka secured nine victories while he was a PGA Tour member. During this period, he ascended to the top spot in the world rankings, captured four major titles, and emerged victorious in events such as the WM Phoenix Open and the St. Jude Championship. In 2018, his fellow players recognized Koepka as the PGA Tour Player of the Year.
