Browning Prepares for F1 Mexico GP Practice with Williams

Luke Browning, a member of the Williams driving program, is slated for another Formula 1 opportunity, substituting Carlos Sainz during Friday’s FP1 session for the Mexico Grand Prix.

Following his initial FP1 experience in Bahrain behind the wheel of Williams’ 2025 car, Browning is now preparing for his second stint in the FW47 in Mexico City, a location anticipated to be a favored choice for the required FP1 sessions dedicated to rookie drivers.

“I’m extremely thankful for this renewed chance to participate in a free practice session with Williams and to pilot the FW47 again,” Browning stated, as quoted by Williams.

“I’ve dedicated myself to thorough preparation for this session, aiming to leverage this incredible opportunity to its fullest extent and assist the team in their planning for the race weekend ahead.

“I’m eager to return to an F1 car, and I extend my sincere appreciation to everyone within the Driver Academy and at Williams for their confidence and backing.”

Browning is still a contender for the title in F2, as he approaches the final two race weekends in Qatar and Abu Dhabi positioned third in the overall standings.

The 23-year-old British driver, who earned the 2022 Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Award, has balanced these responsibilities with a comprehensive F1 program at Williams, including tests using a two-year-old FW45 model and extensive simulator sessions.

“Luke has showcased a commendable season thus far in Formula 2, consistently demonstrating his speed across various circuits and under diverse racing conditions,” noted Williams sporting director Sven Smeets.

“He has been a continuous support to the team via his simulator efforts and the TPC program, effectively readying him for his upcoming free practice participation.

“We anticipate observing him on the track in Mexico, as he proceeds to enhance his expertise as a Williams Racing Academy Driver.”
