The Carolina Royal Ravens will be absent from the 2025 Esports World Cup due to violations of regulations pertaining to team member modifications.
Because of the Call of Duty League (CDL) team’s ineligibility, the Challengers team FiveFears will be taking the organisation’s position in the competition.

The Royal Ravens were found to be ineligible to participate as they implemented more than one alteration to their lineup following the conclusion of the CDL Championship. According to the rules of the 2025 Esports World Cup, participating teams are only authorised to make a single alteration to their initial lineup.
Following the departures of Isiah ‘Gwinn’ Gwinn and Thomas ‘TJHaLy’ Haly from the franchise, only two suitable players were left on the team. Although they attempted to enlist new players to participate in the tournament, the Royal Ravens were not granted the permissions to implement the necessary changes. This caused them to be disqualified from the tournament prior to the start of the event.
“It’s with deep regret that we must share that, despite our best efforts to reach a satisfactory agreement regarding our participation in this year’s competition with the Tournament Organiser, our participation request was rejected. Consequently, we will not be present at this year’s event,” as stated on the Royal Ravens’ various social media channels.
What is Known About FiveFears?
FiveFears will be taking the place of the Royal Ravens, and they have devoted the entire Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 season competing within the North American Challengers circuit.
The squad secured a position within the top six during the Challengers Finals, which meant they narrowly failed to achieve direct qualification for the Esports World Cup. However, the team’s overall Pro Point accumulation made them a prime selection to fill the remaining slot.
Prior to the tournament, Abe decided to leave FiveFears to join Toronto Ultra, which required the team to find another player to complete their roster. Speculation suggests that Kenyen ‘Capsidal’ Sutton, formerly of the Carolina Royal Ravens, may join the squad.
Participation in the Esports World Cup provides FiveFears with a valuable opportunity to go up against some of the best teams from across the globe.
