The Dallas Cowboys aimed to elevate their string of victories to four consecutive games during Week 14, but they’ll need to wrap up Thursday’s prime-time clash against the Detroit Lions without a key offensive weapon.

During the third quarter, CeeDee Lamb sustained an injury while attempting to secure a touchdown catch. He impacted his head on the playing surface, prompting the Cowboys’ medical personnel to promptly rule him out due to a concussion, according to the Amazon broadcast.

Here’s a glimpse of what transpired:

Lamb was in the middle of yet another impressive showing, having hauled in six receptions for 123 receiving yards before his departure. The standout receiver had amassed 51 catches for 744 receiving yards and three touchdowns throughout nine games leading up to this week.

This regrettable situation presents an opportunity for George Pickens, who commenced the week holding the No. 2 spot in receiving yards with 1,142. Pickens and Lamb stand as the only pair in Cowboys history to achieve an average of 80 receiving yards per contest within a single season. Predictably, Detroit’s defensive scheme adjusted its concentration to Pickens following Lamb’s exit, consequently yielding openings for Ryan Flournoy to contribute. He secured a 42-yard touchdown reception during the fourth quarter, narrowing Dallas’s deficit to three points.

One positive aspect of Lamb’s injury lies in the extended recovery period he’ll benefit from, given Dallas’s upcoming mini-bye week. The Cowboys’ next challenge is against the Minnesota Vikings on Dec. 14.
