Beginning his round on the latter half of the course, Woods had completed 11 holes before executing the noteworthy shot, standing at even par on the third hole. Utilizing an iron, he initiated play on the par-3, 177-yard hole, subsequently witnessing his ball descend into the hole. Spectators encircling the green were the first to acknowledge the event, with those situated near the tee box, including Woods himself, expressing jubilation upon realizing the significance of the moment.
This hole-in-one positioned Woods at 6 over for the entirety of the competition, following scores of 76 and 75 in the initial two rounds, respectively.
Woods’ initial ace transpired from an almost equivalent distance. During the concluding phase of the preceding year’s PNC Championship, he effectively landed a tee shot utilizing his 7-iron from a distance of 174 yards on the par-3 4th at Ritz-Carlton GC.
