MMA icon Conor McGregor rekindled his rivalry with Jake Paul through a now-removed holiday greeting directed at the controversial pugilist.
It’s probable that Conor McGregor felt content upon observing Jake Paul’s defeat to Anthony Joshua in the previous week.
Paul experienced his second professional loss against Joshua, who secured a technical knockout victory in the sixth round of their heavyweight bout. McGregor had hinted at a ‘substantial’ wager before the match and subsequently earned a significant amount by backing Joshua to triumph over Paul.
Paul incurred a fractured jaw from Joshua’s right punch during their encounter, marking it as the gravest injury of his professional trajectory.
McGregor and Paul have frequently been rumored for a potential confrontation across their respective combat sports journeys, yet such a bout has not materialized. Meanwhile, animosity persists between the two camps as McGregor and Paul have lately exchanged insults on digital platforms.
The Christmas holiday did not deter McGregor from criticizing Paul.
Conor McGregor delivers an ironic reply to Jake Paul’s sincere holiday greeting
The situation began when Paul disseminated a holiday message to his entire social media audience on X.
“The divine is magnificent. Jaw fractured, but cerebral and spinal health are intact. My drive has never been stronger,” Paul wrote on the day of Christmas.
“A joyful Christmas to everyone globally. Persist in striving for excellence. You are assured of complete failure if you abstain from effort.”
In a subsequent post on X that has since been removed, McGregor derided Paul’s injury sustained during the match.
“Certainly! The divine is magnificent! Relish your festive season blended drinks, mate,” McGregor stated.
At the current moment, Paul has not reacted to McGregor’s provocations, and the message from the former holder of two divisional championships was promptly taken down.
McGregor plans to make his comeback to the UFC fighting arena next year, potentially at the White House, facing Michael Chandler. His last competition was at UFC 264, where he sustained a leg injury battling Dustin Poirier.
Concurrently, Paul aims for a ring comeback in 2026, notwithstanding suggestions from figures like Joe Rogan and others for him to cease fighting. Should Paul proceed with his combat career, McGregor could emerge as a prospective adversary.
